5 Clothing pieces you should invest in

Here at Nu-Da, we’re firm believers in investing in good quality pieces that will stand the test of time and trends. Whether you’re 25 or 95, these pieces can be incorporated into any wardrobe; dressed up or down, mixed and matched to suit any occasion.
White Button up shirt
Not just staples in office wear, they can be unbuttoned as light cardigans, fancy swimsuit cover-ups, or just tucked into distressed jeans for a laidback lunch look.Of course, run an iron over it and you’ll be serving business casual chic. Add a dash of class under a rugged biker jacket (Nu-Da Biker Jacket 'She's a Riot') or even simply, tie it around your waist over denim shorts on a hot day.
Nice fitting jeans
Basically everyone and their mother has owned at least one pair of jeans in their closet, but not everyone has found their perfect fit. Wide leg, boot leg, mum, skinny and of course straight leg, there’s so much variety out there just for the style! Don’t even start on material and cut. Set a day for yourself to go out into the world and experiment with different cuts; thrift shops, the shops, your dad’s closet, even bingeing on DIY videos to hack your own existing pairs. We love this one by DIY legend and Youtuber, Coolirpa! Watch her video here.
Black Pumps/ flats
Ok, so maybe not everyone on here might need black pumps for their day-to-day life but black pumps/flats can really bring any outfit into the night time. Weddings, business dinners, night outs; you can’t go wrong. Take it a step further and opt for black boots for extra warmth in colder seasons.
But do your toes a favour and remember this rule of thumb/toe (*sorry*): the farther the walk, the lower the heel. You’re welcome.
Smart trousers
Not quite suit pants, and not quite track pants; trousers lend a relaxed yet put-together feel to your ‘fit. Goes great with band tees for a casual look, or a longline blazer for a business casual look, chuck a pair on to have the best of both worlds. Look out for stretchy materials as opposed to stiff materials such as tweed and wool to add another element of comfort as well as style.
Outerwear
Listen, if you live anywhere with a climate like Melbourne’s, you’re going to really want a good outerwear piece. Believe us when we say a good trench or coat will save you when you have an early morning class to run off to and have got no time for thinking about your outfit, let alone to rug up with to watch New Year’s fireworks in the northern hemisphere. Double points if it’s got carbon fibre heating systems in three levels of warmth at the push of a button. Have you heard of Nu-Da The Label? wink wink
